Core capability
Electrical
Specialist LV and HV delivery from cable installation and substation fit-out through jointing, earthing, testing and commissioning.
Jointing to 33 kV. Commissioning to 132 kV.
The capability
A clear scope.
Properly connected.
TMRF is built around electrical jointing. That specialist knowledge shapes how we approach the cable route, the equipment, the connection, the earthing system and the tests needed before handover.
Our scope can sit within a larger project or cover a connected package of installation, jointing and commissioning activity. The exact workfront is agreed around the system design, site conditions and authorisation requirements.
Detailed provision
What the scope can include.
Every project is agreed against its design, network, workfront and handover responsibilities.
LV mains and services
Jointing and termination work across new-build, network-extension and connection activity.
- Live and dead mains jointing
- Service joints and terminations
- Straight, branch and breach joints
- PILC, Consac, waveform and SWA cable
- Cut-outs, link boxes and LV pillars
HV jointing to 33 kV
Cable preparation, jointing and termination delivered around the equipment and available working space.
- 11 kV and 33 kV terminations
- Straight and transition joints
- Transformer and switchgear terminations
- Euromold and separable connector applications
- Piggy-back termination arrangements
Substations and cable systems
The installation scope around the specialist connection work.
- Cable pulling, positioning and cleating
- Substation fit-out
- LV pillars and distribution equipment
- Transformer and switchgear connections
- Small power and lighting
Earthing
Earthing is treated as part of the electrical system, not an isolated afterthought.
- Earth nests
- Earth tape and bars
- Equipment bonding
- Substation earthing
- Earth resistance testing
Testing
Testing aligned to the installed cable system and agreed project scope.
- VLF testing
- Cable sheath testing
- Insulation resistance
- Continuity and phase checks
- Earthing tests and records
Commissioning to 132 kV
Commissioning support for protection, control and electrical systems through to the agreed handover point.
- Protection and control checks
- Switchgear and transformer commissioning
- Functional and interlock testing
- Test documentation
- Energisation support
Project integration
Designed around the workfront.
Before the joint
Route readiness, cable condition, equipment interfaces, access, materials and installation sequence are reviewed before specialist work begins.
At the connection
Cable preparation, jointing and terminations are completed around the system, equipment and authorisation requirements.
After installation
The relevant tests, commissioning activities and close-out records are brought together for handover.
Close-out
Information that travels with the work.
The handover requirement is agreed for the specific package. Depending on the scope, it can include:
- Jointing and termination records
- Cable and sheath test results
- Earthing test results
- Commissioning documentation
- Project-specific close-out information
Straight answers
Common project questions.
What voltage can TMRF joint to?+
TMRF’s jointing capability extends through LV, 11 kV and up to 33 kV, subject to the cable system, equipment and project authorisation requirements.
Can TMRF support commissioning above 33 kV?+
Yes. Jointing is available to 33 kV, while electrical commissioning capability extends to 132 kV.
Is earthing a separate service?+
Earthing is presented within the Electrical capability because it must be coordinated with the substation, equipment, cable system and testing requirements.
Can the scope include the complete substation fit-out?+
The agreed package can include cable installation, LV and HV terminations, LV pillars, equipment connections, earthing, small power, lighting, testing and commissioning.
Which cable types can be covered?+
The portfolio includes PILC, Consac, waveform, SWA and polymeric HV cable work. The final method and competence requirements are confirmed against the exact cable and accessory system.
